Last night I visited a book group of around a dozen women, most of whom are past or present senior HR execs. Because this is Silicon Valley, which is really a small town, I was only one degree of separation from anyone in the room. They all knew a board member or an old boss or a brother or a colleague, someone from my past or present. In the other book groups I've visited, I've talked for a few minutes and then answered questions. The interrogatories last night were fired faster than bullets from an AK-47, so any prepared remarks went right out the window. We discussed how I write (as the ideas come to me, not from an outline), who the characters were based on (my position is that they are all works of fiction), who should play whom in the movie version of Dot Dead (casting George Clooney as Paul would get them all to the movie), and so on. Good wine flowed right along with the conversation. A great night.
Let me know if you have a book group that's reading Dot Dead. Happy to be there in the flesh or telephonically.
