Growing up in Silicon Valley, I watched local orchards and dairies being replaced by tilt-up buildings filled with software engineers. I still live there, around the corner from my parents’ house of forty years, along with my wife, Teri, and our four children. Much of my first novel, Dot Dead, was written at the crack of dawn or while squeezed into coach seats on flights to and from the East Coast.
