Anyone who commits the phrase “at the end of the day” to print has no bloody business passing judgment on anyone else’s writing.

Richard Price is interviewed in this Sunday's Philadelphia Inquirer, where he says he hates being called a crime writer, but lists Ellroy, Leonard, Lehane and Pelecanos among his favorite writers. He confuses "crime" and "mystery," in other words.
